“Finding Yourself” While Traveling On Your Own
15 Jan 2018INSPIRATIONBY SweetEscape

Solo travel can be scary, but it can be exhilarating at the same time. It is a chance for you to “find yourself”. Yes yes, we know the phrase “finding yourself” is so overused lately that we don’t even know what it means anymore. When we talk about finding yourself, we’re not talking about knowing who you are and what you want in life.

“So what then?”, you may ask.

First, it is about finding yourself being independent. When you travel on your own, there is no one to contribute to discussions and offer advice, so you need to rely on your own judgement and make decisions for yourself. You may panic and say, “I can’t even decide what to eat for lunch from day-to-day.” Well, that is one of the life lessons you’ll learn through flying solo.

To find yourself also means gaining a new perspective of the world. When travelling with a friend or in a group, you are in a bubble of your own because you are surrounded by the people you know. On the other hand, when travelling alone, you will be more open to meet new people who will show you other sides of the world that you’ve never seen before. You begin to see how small you are in comparison to its greatness. Your senses are open to our surroundings since you have to survive on your own.

Lastly, in finding yourself, you’ll experience absolute freedom. You can do whatever you want, go where you want to go, and decide when. There is no one to slow you down or argue with. Basically, whatever your heart desires and whatever makes you happy.

Ahhh, how amazing solo travel is, right? You should try it some time.
