The 57th International Art Exhibition, titled Viva Arte Viva is currently opened to public and will last till 26th November 2017. The magnificent event is dubbed fittingly as the Olympics of the artworld and is arguably the world’s most important international art fair. The event itself takes place at Arsenale and Giardini venues along with several other locations in Venice.
With over hundreds of artists participating, it will be a paradise of art display, exhibitions, installments and special projects that no one would want to miss when in Venice. There are different types of entrance tickets, so it all depends on which ticket that fits your needs. If you’re a first timer, you can settle for regular ticket that costs 25 euros. It will aloow you one entrance to Giardini and one to Arsenale for two non-consecutive days. It’s also recommended to purchase your ticket online to avoid queue, where you can also plan and adjust the ticket as per your needs.
The event is spread across two main locations (Giardini and Arsenale) and different venues in and around Venice. With the number of participating acts, the Art Biennale can be overwhelming. So if you do plan to enjoy the day to the fullest, look for hotels that will be around in the particular area. You will be spoiled for options so choose wisely!
Exhausted for the day? The hectic event area provides plenty of resting and catering area with cafe-style array of food. But if you want to venture further for some proper relaxation, The Serra dei Giardini comes highly recommended. This cafe-snack bar is housed inside a magnificent greenhouse in the non-exhibition sector of the Giardini so it’s just perfect for that quiet moment all to yourself.
There are some art displays that are more anticipated than another and all the schedules are available online for your information at their website. Several of the must-not miss acts include Bruce Nauman’s Topological Gardens, Fiona Tan’s Netherlands Pavilion to Lygia Pape’s Arsenale. If you are not familiar with any of this, it’s totally fine and you can simply enjoy it with a more relaxed schedule based on your convenience.
