Staying in Thailand--For a more tranquil and relaxed escape destination, Phuket is the place to go. This southern-Thailand island is home to many high-end seaside resorts, spas and restaurants, where you can kick back and relax while enjoying good food, sea breeze and pure white sand. Perth is the closest Australian city to Jakarta with only 1 hour time difference, and it is not less amazing compared to its' famous neighbours to the southeast, Sydney and Melbourne. Perth's modern skyline is complemented by the naturally beautiful Swan River where you can walk, ride, or skate around it. Escape More: Exciting New Cities Added to SweetEscape Philippines!
20 Sep 2019PLACESBY SweetEscape

With the Philippines being comprised of 7,107 islands, it seems as if you can never really see all of them even if you tried. Everywhere you go, there’s always something exciting that’s tucked away in the middle of a jungle or an island in the middle of the ocean waiting to be explored. We’ve rounded up a list of places worth a visit if ever you find yourself in Las Islas Filipinas. If you’re a local, we don’t doubt they’ll make you feel like a tourist in your own home and are well worth your long weekend trip.

1. Baler

by for SweetEscape in Baler

Known for its roaring waves and natural wonders, this town is a must-go if you haven’t already. For those looking to surf, catch some waves, and live that shaka life, the best time to go is from November to February.

2. Zambales

If you’re looking for a quick beach escapade that’s just a couple hours from the city, then this is the place to hit up for your next road trip. Sun worshipping weekend warriors would be happy to know that this is just two and a half hours away from the metro, which is basically a drive along EDSA on a bad day.

3. Dumaguete

by for SweetEscape in Dumaguete

This province is brimming with life and aptly nicknamed “The City of Gentle People”. You’re in for a treat as it’s well known for its beautiful coastline, majestic waterfalls, wildlife and a plethora of things to do if you’re looking for a nature trip. Dolphin watching, anyone?

4. Vigan City

by for SweetEscape in ViganCity

Take a trip back in time as you immerse yourself in a slice of Philippine history. This region has done a marvelous job of preserving Spanish architecture and elements reminiscent of the past such as horse-drawn carriages and rustic mansions. In addition to that, people travel here for the best longganisa (pork sausages made from ground pork, garlic, vinegar and a mix of other local seasonings) and empanada (deep fried patty stuffed with grated green papaya, bean sprouts, shredded carrots, a whole egg, and their famous longganisa).

5. Sagada

by for SweetEscape in Sagada

One of the places in the country that transport you to a whole new idyllic world. Explore the serene atmosphere by giving trekking, spelunking, and hiking a go while you’re in one of the country’s best-kept secrets. It’s a mountain town so you can expect to be one with nature and surrounded by caves, rice terraces, and hanging coffins. Yep, you read that right.

These 5 spots hold a special place in our hearts. Having said this, we’ve recently added these cities to our roster alongside La Union, Iloilo, Oslob, Siquijor, and San Vicente to bring #PhotographyForEveryMoment closer to home. You may now request to book a photographer to capture your escapades through the site.
