Most people are very much familiar with either Bogor Botanical Garden, or the popular one in our neighbor country, Singapore Botanic Garden. Visiting one of them would be like visiting the other family on the other block with a very huge backyard that you might get lost in it. Now, who would have thought that apparently we have another neighbor, with the same beautiful backyard, yet surrounded by plenty of beautiful islands?
Perhaps that is one of the reasons why Bangka Botanical Garden, although had been built since 2006, didn’t get as much attention as the one in Bogor or Singapore. It’s simply because Bangka is mostly considered as travel destination only for its islands. Well it’s your lucky day, because you stumble upon this page and voila now you find out a new romantic place, that is at least less mainstream.
Located only 10-15 minutes from Pangkal Pinang City, you can easily access Bangka Botanical Garden in Temberan Village, Bukit Intan District. This 300-hectare garden is also located very near to Pasir Padi beach, which also all the more reason why you should go to this place. Imagine having a romantic day with the soothing natural greeneries as your backdrop, and spent the afternoon catching sunset at the nearest beach. Two completely different locations on the same day!
So what is actually that Bangka Botanical Garden offers? As you can see on the photos taken by one of our photographers, the place is beautifully covered by green plants and refreshing atmosphere. The best feature is the spruce. Neatly planted rows of pine trees will greet you warmly at the entrance on both sides of the road. Since it is so eye pleasing, this particular area is obviously becoming the must-take-a-photo spot for visitors. At the end of the road, a decent replica of Melayu Bangka traditional house awaits. It includes beautiful ponds, 14 fishponds to be exact filled with plenty of different fishes categories, like goldfish, white snapper, catfish and parrotfish.
On top of that you can also learn numerous agro activities like farming, fishery, and animal husbandry. That is why it has become an agro-tourism icon in Bangka. Sometimes, you may hear the birds’ songs during while you stroll around the garden. In some parts of Bangka Botanical Garden, you can even find orchards! Plus, there are cows and horses too as attraction.
When it comes to accommodations, you don’t have to worry because there are nice hotels for you to stay within the area. While you’re at it, you can also take a visit to Belitung, which offers plenty of beautiful beaches and sunset spots! But, that would be in our other post. ;)
