Most people think Australia is just about the quiet outback, cute furry animals and home to the toughest surfing points in the world. However, not many know that Australia is also home to many fashionable destinations that will not only look good on your Instagram feed, but are also fit for your travel bucket lists!

One of the most recognizable tourist-baits in Australia is the row of uniformly proportioned but distinctive 82 bathing boxes lining the shore of Brighton Beach, Melbourne. Built well over a century ago, the bathing boxes remain almost unchanged, retaining their classic Victorian architectural features with timber framing, weatherboards and corrugated iron roofs, while each exhibits bright colours and designs, contrasting the white sands of the beach.

2. Bondi Beach

Sydney, NSW

by Ken for SweetEscape in Sydney

The go-to site when visiting Sydney, Bondi Beach is one of Australia's most iconic beaches, popular for its beautiful white sands and surfers-friendly waves. The beach is flanked by sandstone headlands, which are popular for walking, golfing and–if you come at the right time–whale watching.

Flinders Street Station was Melbourne’s favourite meeting place, hence the catchphrase among locals ‘meet me under the clocks’. Flinders Street Station is Australia’s oldest train station, with its distinctive facade and green copper dome it’s a city icon. Listed on the Victorian Heritage Register, its 708-metre main platform is the fourth longest railway platform in the world.

Famous for its surfing-beaches (Surfers Paradise, anyone?) and sunny-subtropical climate, Gold Coast is another spot to enjoy your holiday down under. Do you photo session at the beach with the iconic high-rise skyline as your background, visit the hinterlands, or spend a day with your family at the Warner Bros' Movie World or the Gold Coast Sea World.
