Said to be possessing one of Japan’s best views, this small island is just an hour away from Hiroshima. Commonly referred as “the shrine island”, two of its most prominent features are the Itsukushima Shrine and torii gate, both of which were built over the water. As the island of the Gods, Miyajima is dotted with temples, pagodas and holy shrines, in addition to attractions such as Omotesando Street for tourists, culinary treats, and museums. Miyajima is also known as the home of deer. Worry not, most of them are tame, adorable and friendly!
