Popular Filipino pastry chef and new-mom Patti Grandidge talked about her family's traditions during the Easter long-weekend, and how her holiday routines might change now that her little boy Neo has arrived. She spoke to us after her recent SweetEscape session in London together with baby Neo and her husband, Jon Herrera.
Funny enough, I’ve spent the last 3 Holy Weeks in the city. My husband and I usually do a trip a few weeks before the long weekend (like our recent London holiday with our new baby!) and find it relaxing to be in Manila while everyone else is away. My family goes to church on Easter Sunday and celebrates after with brunch. Now that we have Neo, I’m looking forward to starting new traditions!
We don’t do much during our ‘staycations.’ We take it slow and easy, walking our dog, grabbing coffee, easy meals at home or nearby. The vibe is so different, so we enjoy the quiet time while we can. This year, I hope to get a few swims in with Neo and take him on stroller walks while all the cars are nowhere to be seen!
Jon and I were in Italy for our honeymoon over Easter weekend a few years ago -- totally unplanned! The dates we booked happened to cover the holiday, so we got to spend it there. The majority religion in Italy is Roman Catholicism, so it was special to be there during the Easter weekend while everyone observed and celebrated.
