19 Jul 2017INSPIRATIONBY SweetEscape

Aside from a flattering outfit, your makeup will ensure you look pretty in your SweetEscape photos, but how? Meet Vinna Gracia, a professional makeup artist with more than six years of experience. Vinna lives in Los Angeles but usually return to Indonesia to share her knowledge in makeup.

Having the experience in handling some of SweetEscape clients, we turned to her to share with us some of the smartest tips and tricks for looking pretty when the lens is looking at you.

Long-haul flight or having too much fun can result in tired eyes when traveling. What would you recommend to cure it?

Use eye patches to cool down the tired under-eye area. I personally use TIFF Puffy Eye Elixir. Dab the concealer under the eye with a shade lighter to look more natural without looking cakey.

How can we keep our make-up looking fresh during photo shoot?

Choose your make-up based on your skin type and the weather condition in the location you’ll be shooting at. If you have dry skin, use moisturizer and hydrating primer and setting spray, with no powder, but if you have oily skin you have to use a lot of powder. If you’ll be shooting at a location with dry weather, I’d suggest you to not use too much makeup. But if you’ll be somewhere humid, use powdered foundation.

What are the ultimate photo shoot makeup tips and tricks that guarantee great looking photos?

Don’t worry about having too much contouring because on the photos the contouring will look washed out. Instead, use more blush. A little bit extra on everything is never a bad thing for a makeup photo shoot. Foundation wise, I prefer lighter foundation because I always use bronzer to look warm. I never use foundation with SPF. I rather use moisturizer with SPF because tinted foundation is never as good as the pure one. For a finishing touch, I use two tones of powder foundation. The lighter for highlight area: under the eyes, bridge of the nose, center of the forehead, chin. The rest of the face, use the same tone as your skin tone.

If you only have 5 minutes to do makeup, what can you do to make the most difference?

Work on your eyelashes, brush on some blush and put on lip cream.

What kind of makeup look would you recommend for outdoor photo shoot?

You should always match your look with the theme or outfit. You can also ask yourself, what kind of look you want to portray yourself - is it a sexy look, or sweet look. You should also consider it with the location, whether it’s dry or humid. For a SweetEscape photo session, I would definitely recommend you to go as natural as possible; not too much eyeshadow but focus on having great lashes.

Eyes, lips, skin, or eyebrows – which one should we emphasize on?

Definitely your eyes.

Is there any special make up tips for summer and winter season photo shoot?

If the photo shoot is in the pool or beach, use waterproof. Avoid foundation, use only concealer. Bold in eyes, no contouring. Use blush to look natural, as if you’re not putting too much effort. For winter photo session, use oil based foundation to avoid cracking and makeup sets perfectly

How to choose your makeup collections so you can travel lightly and not take that much with you?

I always choose to bring travel sized makeup instead of transferring the products into smaller bottles. I can do without the hassle. I also bring only two pouches for my makeup with me. One for the products and the other for tools and brushes.

Any makeup product recommendation for travel?

I absolutely must travel with my NARS Creamy Concealer, Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, Mac Studio Fix Powder, Tartelette in Bloom , BLP Butterfudge, Maybelline Falsies, Maybelline Hypersharp Liner, NYX Away Me Glow Liquid Highlighter.
