We met during our mutual friend’s wedding in Malaysia. Kee was the groomsman and I was the bridesmaid. Something very old-school happened during the wedding, because both the groomsman and bridesmaid have fallen in love at first sight.
However, the relationship did not begin right away as he was living in Perth and i was living in Kuala Lumpur. I was feeling hesitatant to start a long distance relationship and did not prepare to move forward. Things changed when he came to Kuala Lumpur again few months later to surprise me and did a very touching confession.
Long distance relationship is never easy as most people think. It requires a lot of additional effort, understanding and trust from each other. There were many times I almost give up and he reminded me to hold on.
After years of taking that leap of faith, he finally went down on his knee on our 4th Valentine’s day. We decided to have a registry style marriage in Perth and witnessed by our family and close friends. On our wedding day, he said : “Funny that it doesn’t feel any different from yesterday, knowing all along that I was always going to spend the rest of my life with her.” I truly feel grateful for having such a kind man as my husband.
