SweetEscape is proud to capture incredible moments in your lives perfectly, and one of our favourite moments to capture is a proposal! The excitement and nervousness before the guy pops up the question and the look of surprise and overwhelming happiness in the girl's eyes is something to be treasured for years to come, and we're here to capture them for you.
One of our Escapists, Michelle Pangemanan, a social media influencer and young entrepreneur, had her proposal moment in Zermatt, Switzerland, last year. Her proposal photos are truly beautiful, and we're honoured to be the ones capturing her special moment with her fiancé. Read on to find out more about the story behind Michelle and William's proposal in Zermatt which she shared with us during our first IG Live Story Time session last week!
Hi! I actually like it at home. You might not believe me if you see my posts on social media, but I’m actually an introvert. I’m living alone currently in Jakarta, my parents live in Semarang. I wanted to go back to Semarang, but I don’t want to be a virus carrier for my parents, so I decided to just stay in Jakarta to keep them safe.
It was actually one of the biggest moments in my life. I think every girl would dream about getting proposed in a really nice place with the love of your life, and I’m really grateful that SweetEscape could capture that moment which I actually didn’t expect at all because I was the one who made the booking! Everyone thought it was William who booked and planned everything, but actually not. I was the one who booked the SweetEscape session.
The thing with SweetEscape is you don’t talk with the photographer using other chat app; you talk with them through the chat function in SweetEscape app. There’s no way that I would ever think that William would propose to me that time because I was the one who did all the chatting.
It was supposed to be just a normal couple shoot, cause we’ve already did it before in Shanghai. This was the second time I used SweetEscape, June 2019. A few minutes before it happened he managed to talk to the photographer and told her that he was going to propose. She handled it really well. She knows what’s gonna happen right away.
It was really nice weather and I didn’t expect the photos to turn out that well with the snowy mountain at the background, because it was June and it wasn’t really cold in the area that day.
When I went to the toilet, William told the photographer that he was about to do the proposal, and the clue she would give him was the word ‘Bolognese’, like the spaghetti, because the photographer was from there if i’m not mistaken. So they agreed to use that word as a hint for the perfect time to do the photo shoot.
During the photo shoot, I didn’t expect anything. I thought it was just going to be a normal couple session. Apparently during the shoot, the photographer had told my fiancee 3 times ‘This is a nice time to have a spaghetti bolognese!’ but he didn’t propose during the first two times because he was just so nervous! We were running out of time, so for the third time the photographer was hinting so loudly that even I could hear it!
“This is a nice time to have a picnic and some spaghetti bolognese, HERE!” she shouted.
That’s when William realised that this is his chance to propose, but he realised then that the ring wasn’t in his pocket… it was actually in a grocery bag! So he scrambled for the grocery bag, took out the ring, and he popped the question! Of course I said yes.
Yes the ring was from my brand, Marry Me Jewellery. So I just started this jewellery line last February, but the thing is when he proposed to me on June 2019, I haven’t even launched the brand yet! But he somehow managed to buy the ring from my company! After the proposal I realised that he had got my box with the logo on it. I thought he actually stole it from my house because I had several sample boxes from my house and he bought the ring from some other store and placed it in my box. But he explained to me that he bought from my company! He contacted my partner, and I had no idea about it! I never even introduced my partner to to William, but he managed to find out who my partner was and even buy the ring from her! I totally didn’t expect that, and now I have a great photo shoot for my company with the branded box in a beautiful place as well!
This was actually the first couple session that we had. We were on a family trip to Shanghai and we wanted SweetEscape to capture the moments for us. I think I didn’t really realise that it was done on the evening until you mentioned it because the photos just look so beautiful! I think the photographer suggested that we did the session at late afternoon towards evening to capture the beautiful lights of Shanghai rather than just the normal scenery. Towards the end of the session it gets dark, but SweetEscape managed to keep the photos beautiful even when doing it on the evening!
