Itaewon Class (Korean: 이태원 클라쓰) is a 2020 South Korean television series starring Park Seo-joon, Kim Da-mi, Yoo Jae-myung and Kwon Nara. Based on the webtoon of the same name, the series premiered on Netflix earlier this year. It tells the story of ex-convict Park Sae-ro-yi (Park Seo-joon) whose life has been turned upside down after he gets expelled from school for punching a bully and his father is killed in an accident. Following his father's steps, he opens his bar-restaurant DanBam (Sweet Night) in Itaewon. Alongside his manager, Jo Yi-seo (Kim Da-mi) and his staff, he strives towards success and reaching greater heights while battling against a food conglomerate.

Apart from the expectedly excellent drama we're all familiar with in many K-Dramas, Itaewon Class is noted for its many insights about starting, managing, and maintaining business for young people; and while the series is set in Downtown Seoul, it also gives us a better look on several interesting locations in South Korea's capital city that we can visit, something we at SweetEscape are always excited about!

In this fourth edition of our Netflix and Travel, we are taking you our readers on a trip to Seoul to visit some of the most interesting locations from Itaewon Class. So get ready, and here we go! Warning! This article contains SPOILERS!

1. The Finest (41 Hoenamu-ro, Itaewon 2(i)-dong, Yongsan-gu)

by

In episode 4, Yiseo and Saeroyi went for a drink together for the first time after Saeroyi saved Yiseo from a bully. When Saeroyi passed out, Yiseo leaned in for a kiss. Other than the dramatic scene, this rooftop bar in level 3 of the building is also a beautiful place, with a view of Namsan Tower at the background, which lights up at night. As you might guessed, this place is great for a romantic proposal moment.

2. Seoul Fortress Wall ( 622-83 Changsin-dong, Jongno-gu)

by

Probably Saeroyi's favourite place to be in Seoul, he visited the Wall no less than five times in the series. This is the place where Saeroyi met Soo Ah and took a walk with her, meeting Director Kang Minjung for some business talk, having a morning jog, and of course... that ending. This place is great for photo sessions with family and friends, and also for couples, just like Saeroyi and Soo Ah.

Seoul Fortress Wall was a defensive wall built in the past to protect Seoul from enemy invasion. Spanning for about 6.3 kilometers length, you can visit this wall from Namsan Park. Take Seoul Subway Line 4, stop at Hoehyeon Station, take exits 4 or 5, turn left towards Toegyero 2gil, and keep walking towards Sowolro and Songparo intersection. You can see the entrance to the park right across the street.

3. Colline Café (45 Eoulmadang-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea)

by

The place where Soo Ah and Yiseo had a serious talk about their love triangle with Saeroyi. Colline is a beautiful cafe in Mapo district in Seoul, a very instagrammable spot and great for a brunch-themed photo shoots with your girlsquad, hopefully in a more relaxed setting, not talking about a love triangle of your own!

4. Undukjib (57 Noksapyeong-daero 40-gil, Itaewon 1(il)-dong, Yongsan-gu)

by

The first DanBam location in Itaewon Class was shot in a real-life restaurant called Undukjib in Itaewon. To visit the shooting location, take a subway and stop at Noksapyeon Station, then take a short 5 minutes walk to reach the restaurant. This place is great for... Well, eating! As mentioned before, the restaurant is functioning in real life, so make sure to sample some of their food, while taking some photos here. You can also visit the nearby Noksapyeong Bridge, another prominent shooting location from the series.

5. Banpo Bridge (Banpo 2(i)-dong, Seoul, South Korea)

by

Banpo Bridge is Yiseo's favourite place to brood and contemplate in the series. In one episode she flips a coin to determine her future. This is also the place where Jang Geunsoo picked her up on a scooter, also the place where he confessed his feelings towards her.

Banpo Bridge is the upper tier of a two-tiered bridge spanning across the Hangang River, the lower tier is called Jamsu Bridge. This bridge is famous for its beautiful nighttime Rainbow Fountain Show, and is a great backdrop for your SweetEscape session along the Hangang River!
