Two months plus under quarantine has made our traveling instinct started to itch. Sure, our home is a comfortable and safe place, and it's good and important to have all the quality time that we can have now with our family, but after a while, we long to travel the world again, and we're sure that you do too!
Sadly, the pandemic hasn't totally ended yet, and even though some cities and borders have started to reopen slowly around the world, it is still to early to travel. So, what can we do? Don't worry! Here are some tips on the creative things you can do at home when you miss traveling as bad as us! Let's go!
Many travel companies like Klook or other museum / attractions website are doing virtual guided tours in the world's famous holiday destinations such as The Great Walls China, Machu Pichu, and even Versailles! So if you really miss the thrill of going on a holiday somewhere, this is something that you can actually do. However, if you're as adventuruous as most of us here in SweetEscape, you can also simply go on your own tour using Google Earth, where you can see the sights in a city and move along the streets through your computer screen.
SweetEscape's blog is filled with travel inspirations, city highlights, and even in depth review on some of the most favourite spots from cities around the world. Our recent IG Live Conversations with our photographers from Seoul, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Bali, and Paris are also worth checking, as they provide some local insights about these amazing cities, from the hidden photo spots to the best street food to try in the city!
Sometimes when you miss something it's good to relive the moments you've spent with that someone, somewhere special. Re-open your SweetEscape photo albums from your holiday moments, and travel back memory lane by remembering the stories of each photo! For parents, this is a great opportunity to tell your children about your holiday and travel moments before they were born or when they were too young to remember.
They say that a book is the window to the world, so let's make the magic of the books (and now, movies too) reappear while we're stuck at home! Our pick for books would be 'Shark’s Fin and Sichuan Pepper' by Fuchsia Dunlop and A Cook’s Tour: Global Adventures in Extreme Cuisines by Anthony Bourdain. Yes, we know... Those are both food-related books, but wasn't trying the local cuisine a big reason for us to travel? As for movies, we would recommend Lost in Translation and Eat, Pray, Love to satiate your traveling craves! There's also one particular docuseries called Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix that is all about traveling, exploring different cultures, and sampling the food of a lot of interesting cities around the world!
As we're all limited to virtual meetings or gatherings with our friends and families with the current situation, it's good to have a little bit extra touch for your online meetings! Check out this article for some cool Zoom backgrounds that we've prepared for you, featuring some of our favourite destinations and photo spots around the world!
The world is recovering soon from the pandemic, so we are sure that we can start traveling again soon! Until then, stay safe, stay home, and start planning your next holiday #CapturedPerfectly by SweetEscape!
