Meet Melissa. She’s a wife, a mom of 2, a health coach and an entrepreneur. With so many roles she has play, she achieve balance and succeed with her own sustainable way to maintain healthy lifestyle.
I believe, both eating healthy and self-care is essential here. Focus on drinking lots of water, eating fresh fruits and vegetables, especially leafy greens, and add some gut supporting food and supplements too, like kimchi, kombucha, miso paste, sauerkraut, and probiotic for that extra dose of good bacteria for your gut. Practice a morning routine with some meditation or journaling. It’s important to be kind to yourself, show grace and compassion, especially after the holidays when you actually want to jump on a diet - which I strongly recommend you not to do it.
*Think of leafy greens, parsley, ginger, lemons, kale, spinach, romaine lettuce, these are all very purifying. Turning them into green juices and smoothies are great options. Smoothies are in particular great as you keep the fibers from all the veggies and fruits. Don’t only ‘drink’ your veggies and fruits. It’s good to chew them down too. You can try making a salad bowl, rice paper rolls or stir fry. *
You might gain some extra pounds during the holiday. I know I did. It's okay to enjoy that time and let go of some restrictions you normally put on yourself. As you are not in your own surrounding, it can be challenging to maintain a healthy lifestyle during the holidays. The opposite is true too, that when you’re back in your own kitchen and routine, you can pick up that healthy lifestyle again. However, I don't believe in going to the extreme with diets or detox, as they will only give you short-term results. Instead, go for a long-term sustainable healthy way of living where there’s room for progress over perfection, self-love and mindful eating. I would recommend you to go for a "new life detox" where you go slow yet steady. You will look great and feel even greater than before.
Getting back into a healthy lifestyle after indulging during holidays may include sugar cravings that strike every now and then. Worry not, Melissa also shares her favorite sweet treat that’s not only healthy to fill sugar cravings, but also nourishing, delicious and creamy. What’s not to love about it?
