What To Learn From Australia's Bushfire
15 Jan 2020INSPIRATIONBY Natalia

SweetEscape is an on demand photography platform. In light of the recent tragedy of Australian bushfires, we certainly hope that it raises awareness among our lovely Escapists in terms of what it really means to look after the environment. The world is ours to look after; otherwise who else is going to do it?

1. Habitats, homes and massive areas burned

As of date, Australia's bushfires have damaged roughly 10 million hectares of land, which is almost as big as England's land... imagine that! Destroying thousands of homes, habitats and living beings, New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, and Tasmania are only some of the worst affected areas in the country.

2. More intense and widespread

Despite being a country familiar to bushfires, the most recent bushfire of 2019 has hit the record of being the worst since 1950. By worst we're not referring to the casualties, but the areas of nature that have been destroyed. More intense and widespread than ever before, the incident certainly caught the world's attention.

3. Wildlife, living things and living beings burned to ashes

Australia is home to various popular and endangered animals that seldom appear anywhere else in the world. Their homes are spread through the wildlife areas of the country, and are heavily dependent on their habitats and resources to survive in which a significant amount has been damaged within the recent bushfire season.

4. Extreme increase in pollution

As a result of the intense bushfire, plumes of black carbon smoke travelled more than 11,000 kilometers away from the fires. This leads to an even bigger problem; more harm towards human health and the worsening of climate change.

5. Wake up call: All goes back to global warming

If you think this is only affecting the down under, you're not quite right. Climate change is affecting the entire globe. It's time for us to get up and make changes to prevent the world from collapsing right before our eyes. Bushfire isn't always caused by human error, but it doesn't hurt to take that extra measure of prevention to help save the world.
