1. La Recoleta Cemetery, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Located in the exotic Argentinian city of Buenos Aires, the infamous cemetery known as the La Recoleta Cemetery that has been known to turn heads locally and even internationally. As if the idea of cemeteries aren’t already creepy, most of the graves in the cemetery are built above the ground. Considered as one of the most unusual cemeteries in the world, the location became the city’s official grave site back in the early 1800s. Decorated with ancient pillars on the gravestones and tomb ways, the structures most certainly give off a spooky vibe. To top it off, these grave statures are organized in a labyrinth-style where you can easily get lost inside. Feeling balls-y? Make a little trip there to experience the spooks yourself… fingers-crossed that you don’t get lost inside, though!

2. Tower of London, London, England

One of the most iconic landmarks in the city of London, is none other than the Tower of London which goes way back in history and time. Popularly known as Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London, the construction began in as early as the year 1078 and was mostly used as a prison other than serving as a residence for the royal family. So, What’s the scary part?, you wonder. The Tower of London is notoriously known for their methods of torture upon their prisoners. In fact, you will find a tower-full of exhibitions on all of their torture machines and equipment which have all been used to - you guessed it - torture many unfortunate lives in the premises.

3. Centralia, Pennsylvania, United States

If you’ve seen the movie Silent Hill, then you probably know (or not know) that the movie is based on an actual ghost town known as Centralia, located in the state of America’s Pennsylvania. In reality, (except for the creepy nurse ghosts and monsters) the town really was burned resulting in hundreds of casualties. Not scary enough? Til this day, the town remains ghosted (with only 5 people living in it as of 2017 and is still “smoky” from the mine fire that started burning the town since the 1960s. Imagine that, a town that has been abandoned and is still burning to this day. It’s no surprise that the town is haunted by the fire victims in the town. Unfortunately, the town is clearly a danger zone and no where safe for you to explore anymore. However, you can actually visit the infamous graffiti highway in Centralia and feel the eeriness of the entire ambience.

4. Beelitz-Heilstätten Hospital, German

For you urban exploration lovers, the abandoned military hospital located in Beelitz just southwest of Berlin, is a great location for you to experience for a great haunt. The hospital treated many wounded Nazi soldiers during the second world war, and was a popular place that held many tuberculosis patients as well as other fatal diseases. Aside from that, the hospital was also famous for its psychiatric ward, in which the sanatorium housed many mentally troubled patients and used them for testing subjects and experiments. For many reasons, hospitals are quite a scary place to be. Abandoned hospitals, however, are even darker in atmosphere and feel. Imagine that, the abandoned hospital walls are frozen in time, with the eerie past that’s buried in the walls. Dare to explore? Be sure to have a friend or two in case you get too spooked.

5. Aokigahara Forest, Yamanashi Perfecture, Japan

Life is quite an interesting ride to some people, and to many… it’s just too unbearable that they opt to just end it to stop all the turmoil. In Japan, they actually have just the place to make it easier for those in line. The Aokigahara Forest located a few hours away from Tokyo most certainly has a haunting backstory to its existence. For some unknown reason, the site became the go-to place for suicides since the mid 1900s, and by 2003 the site has been declared as the most popular suicide place in Japan. With the large number of body counts in record, you can only imagine what a trip to the place would more or less be like. If you’re feeling a bit daring, a visit to thee suicide forest should most certainly be on your list of spooky places to visit for a great scare.

6. Poveglia Island, Venice, Italy

Considered as the most haunted island in Italy, the Poveglia Island is the perfect little island of horrors for you to experience and have a spooky-full time. From afar, the island might seem to be as harmless as can be, a little getaway island, perhaps? In actuality, various unfortunate events fell upon many lives. From diseases, to murders to the mentally insane - the place is familiar with all of those listed and is the reason as to why it has become abandoned. As you might know, the plague was one of the main causes of death in the olden days. Plague victims have died and been buried throughout the island. In order for you to make a trip to the island, isn’t as easy as you might think. The human-ash covered island is a dangerous place to visit, and you aren't able to just randomly rent a boat or gondola to cross over to the island. As a matter of fact, you are required to sign up for a boat tour that would take you to the haunted island.
