We fell in love with the family holiday album of Kent and Shau Fun in Tokyo. Not only because their two daughter looked absolutely adorable in all of their pictures, but because the family shared some undeniable chemistry. These are stuff we really can’t make up! So, we got in touch with Kent and Shau Fun to ask some tips about pulling off a successful SweetEscape session.
“If only you could see the behind-the-scene moments too, you might not think we were so coordinated! Kent and I just let them be themselves even if that means we (the parents and the photographer) had to chase after them all over the place, while hoping that the photos will turn out as natural as possible. I believe that it’s important that they enjoy the moment and have fun during the process.
To be completely honest, we didn’t intentionally color-coordinate our outfits. It helped, however, that we do have some twinning outfits on hand for the girls. That sure came handy for such occasion. We choose something that they are comfortable with because we didn’t want them to feel agitated or irritated by what they were wearing!
Before the shoot, we took the time to plan out our session. We checked the weather forecasts and took it into consideration. We choose a time slot around the children’s nap and meal times, and chose locations that we thought would be child-friendly. However, the minute the session begins, we let everything go and just go with the flow. We find that, more often than not, the kids will find a way to disrupt all your plans, so we just hoped for the best!
Our actual SweetEscape session in Tokyo only took thirty minutes (instead of the allocated two hours) because the kids were actually still napping when the session began and we didn’t want to wake them because we didn’t want to risk having cranky children on our hands!
Seeing these photos from our trip warmed our hearts. I love how happy the kids were to run around the beautiful Shinjuku Gardens. Their smiles and laughters were all that mattered to us and exactly what we wanted captured. Kids grow very fast so these will be great for our memories, and hopefully theirs too! Big credit to our SweetEscape photographer in Tokyo for his quick eyes and fingers such that he managed to capture many of these candid moments very quickly!”

Food scene in Sydney is beyond words. There are tons of place you should go to get a taste of the city. Figuring out what and where to eat can at times be challenging. But we couldn’t be more thrilled to share with you a recommendation from one of Jakarta’s most influential food blogger, Hans Danial, who blogs at EatsAndTreats. He’s pulled together a list of his top restaurant/café recommendation in “the Harbour City”. Read on to learn about them.
181 Enmore Rd, Enmore NSW 2042, Australia The family-run gelato and coffee bar won the best gelato in the world! The place has many adventurous flavors, from miso ginger to coconut mango, it’s going to be a hard for you to decide which flavor to choose. Affogato and pistachio are Hans’ favorite from the place he claimed his most favorite gelato in Sydney.
9, 37 Ultimo Rd, Haymarket NSW 2000, Australia A famous Thai street food and noodle bar, serving their best-selling noodle soup, which is extremely hot and absolutely delicious. Try Moo ping skewers aka pork neck skewers, they’re charred to perfection, super tasty and great texture. For Hans, visiting Do Dee Paidang is a mandatory, especially when all he needed was a delicious Asian fare.
547 Bourke St, Surry Hills NSW 2010, Australia It’s the coffee place you must pay homage to if you’re a coffee aficionado. Everything’s expertly crafted. His favorite is definitely the soy cap. It has the perfect taste, creamy texture, simply one of the best.
7A, 2 Huntley St, Alexandria NSW 2015, Australia This place is known for its homestyle food and specialty coffee in a former pie factory with brick walls and an organic garden. The Grounds is gorgeous, for sure, and always packed. Make sure you come early (and hungry!) for their signature dishes like Berry Hotcakes, which, according to Hans, he had so many of them during his days in Sydney because they’re that good!
68 Sir John Young Cres, Woolloomooloo NSW 2011, Australia A small cafe that combines sweets and flowers, Petal Met Sugar creates too-pretty-to-eat delicious dessert. Everything here is so Instagrammable. Just look how pretty their Terrarium with lupicia jasmine tea panacotta, yuzu gel, strawberry crisps, chocolate soil, edible flowers and lemon balm.
