This exponential growth of gig workers is attributed to the massive digitalization and automation in the industry 4.0 era. Gig Economy can be defined as a work environment with short-term commitments and contract-based, independent projects between professionals and companies.

David Soong, the CEO and Co-Founder of SweetEscape recently attended Visual 1st a global conference focusing on innovation and partnership in the photography ecosystem in San Francisco. A photographer's working journey involves an end-to end process, where the photoshoot session itself happening right in the middle. Before the session ever happened, however, a photographer needs to build their portfolio, finding clients, and taking care of the booking and payment processes. After the session ended, they need to edit the photos and deliver the photos to the clients. This proofs that there are a lot more to photography industry than merely snapping pictures; there are a lot of components at play.

"There are actually very few professional photographers who rely on photography as their main job. In Indonesia, only 2.3% of professional camera owners are focusing on commercial photography as a professional photographer," said David while opening the panel discussion about photographer supply in Indonesia.

From the many different aspects of a photographer's work, SweetEscape as an online photography platform offers a solution to photographers worldwide to focus only on the one thing that they love to do: Taking photos.

"In its core, the gig economy concept offers an opportunity for photographers to have other jobs and to take photography as a freelance job. A lot of people who love photography have full-time jobs but still are passionate about photography. Through our platform at SweetEscape, we see this potential in optimizing the photographer's passion while also utilizing the results of their artworks," explained David.

David also explained that SweetEscape is also increasing the demand for photographers; simply put, photographers will get more clients. "We introduced a new type of business to the world of photography which we hoped will support the ecosystem. Photographers will have more ability to purchase better cameras, get more experiences under their belt, and also to hopefully create a new photographers' community to learn together and grow together as photographers".

"From the consumer's side, we can have more and better quality visuals, grow our product, and in the future create collections and so on. Not only strong in the digital and social media side, but SweetEscape will also enter the ecosystem of photography industry in general," concluded David.
