2. Zambales

If you’re looking for a quick beach escapade that’s just a couple hours from the city, then this is the place to hit up for your next road trip. Sun worshipping weekend warriors would be happy to know that this is just two and a half hours away from the metro, which is basically a drive along EDSA on a bad day.

3. Dumaguete

This province is brimming with life and aptly nicknamed “The City of Gentle People”. You’re in for a treat as it’s well known for its beautiful coastline, majestic waterfalls, wildlife and a plethora of things to do if you’re looking for a nature trip. Dolphin watching, anyone?

4. Vigan City

Take a trip back in time as you immerse yourself in a slice of Philippine history. This region has done a marvelous job of preserving Spanish architecture and elements reminiscent of the past such as horse-drawn carriages and rustic mansions. In addition to that, people travel here for the best longganisa (pork sausages made from ground pork, garlic, vinegar and a mix of other local seasonings) and empanada (deep fried patty stuffed with grated green papaya, bean sprouts, shredded carrots, a whole egg, and their famous longganisa).

5. Sagada

One of the places in the country that transport you to a whole new idyllic world. Explore the serene atmosphere by giving trekking, spelunking, and hiking a go while you’re in one of the country’s best-kept secrets. It’s a mountain town so you can expect to be one with nature and surrounded by caves, rice terraces, and hanging coffins. Yep, you read that right.
