Netflix recently dropped a series The Queen’s Gambit for its users worldwide. Ever since the announcement, The Queen’s Gambit was one of the highly anticipated series of this year. The plot of The Queen’s Gambit revolves around a chess prodigy Elizabeth Harmon AKA Beth Harmon played by Anya Taylor-Joy.
It jumps back a decade or so, to when Beth is placed in a Kentucky orphanage after surviving the car crash that kills her mother. It’s a repressively parochial place that keeps the girls sedate by feeding them tranquilizers from a big glass jar, but the awkward, introverted Beth finds another kind of escape when she discovers chess.
On this third edition of our Netflix and Travel series, we invite you our readers to jump to these wonderful locations from this perfect escapist entertainment right now. Alert! The article contains some spoilers!
Although Beth is ultimately awarded co-champion along with Benny Watts at the Las Vegas U.S. Open Chess Championship, she loses her head-to-head match up with the brash professional. It's the first loss Beth suffers in tournament play but she learned a lot from her loss.
Head to Las Vegas for their stunning bright lights and so many attractions. You'll never be bored with endless places to have a stunning photo session like you never had before.
Beth begins immersive training in New York City with the former United States champion and her once rival, Benny Watts. He invites a group of friends over to challenge Beth to simultaneous chess play.
While Benny was driving, Beth found herself mesmerized by the city lights of New York. Well, who doesn't? Definitely worth making a trip to take a memorable shoot with the city lights and the hustle and bustle of the city.
Beth heads to Paris for her first-ever match with Vasily Borgov, the fiercest player in the world. After a night of drinking in the City of Lights, a shaky and hungover Beth is trounced by Borgov.
The elegance of this city is always alluring. Beyond the famous Eiffel Tower, Paris offers a plethora of beautiful spots to capture your moments. Of course, it goes without saying that you should take a photo with the iconic structure. Whether it’s in Trocadero, Champ de Mars Park, or along the Seine River, you’ll definitely have a great picture to remember your Paris journey.
Once Beth is defeated by Borgov in Paris, her confidence is shaken. Unfortunately, the competition only increases when Beth travels to Moscow to face the cream of the crop in the Moscow Invitational.
However, Beth regains her footing by defeating the Soviet opponent, Laev, in a mere 27 moves. Beth's first win of the Moscow Invitational reinstills her confidence and increases her celebrity. Following the match, Beth is met on the street by applauding Russian fans who enthusiastically solicit her autograph.
Like Beth's enthusiasm with Russia, everyone finds their own reasons to visit Moscow. The beautiful architecture of museums and churches, makes each city street a sight to behold. The streets around the Red Square are a good start for you to stroll and have them as background for your next SweetEscape session.
