As every parent would tell you, travelling with kids can be extremely tough! There are tons of tiny details and preparations that need to be ironed-out before you even set out of your home, not to mention that a lot of times the things and places that the parents want to do and visit are not the ones favourable to the kids'. Don't worry, we're here for you! Here's a list of activities you and your kids can do together during your spring travel to Amsterdam, and rest assured, you will find these activities equally exciting!
The best way to experience the wonders of the canals of Amsterdam is by hopping on a boat and taking a boat tour. The beautiful and unique canal houses along the canals makes great setting for your family photo session. Your kids can also learn about the Netherlands' famous canals system from the guides!
A very Dutch way to get around Amsterdam is on bakfiets, a large bucket attached to the front of a bike, which your kids will definitely love! Let your kids to sit safely inside the bakfiets and cycle through Amsterdam's numerous bike-lanes to many interesting spots in and around the city, including Vondelpark, the largest park of the city with lots to offer for kids such as The Melkhuis, Kinderkookcafe (where children can cook little dishes while you enjoy a cup of coffee), and a lovely paddling pool. Check out these other great spots for cycling too!
The Netherlands produces some famous painters throughout history, and you can start to spark some creativity in your kids by taking them to some of these famous museum. The Van Gogh Museum is pleasantly light and modern, with paintings that are very colourful and accessible to children. The 17th Century Rembrandt House is also very interesting, giving us a glimpse of how Rembrandt (and other well-to-do Amsterdam inhabitants) lived in the ‘Golden Age’. Start nurturing the future artist in them!
The Nine Streets is another interesting place to visit. These nine little streets are filled with small and unique shops, ranging from fashion boutiques, to art stores, and even a toothbrush shop! One of the best places to take your kids to in the Nine Streets is Pancakes Amsterdam Negen Straatjes, a pancake shop that offers a world-wide variety of pancakes, including Dutch's famous pannekoek!
Unique to Spring, The King's Day is a festival to celebrate the birthday King Willem-Alexander, the current ruling monarch, and is held every April 27th. Cycle past the spectacle with your kids on the Bakfiets (see number 2!) and let them take it the explosion of bright orange colours throughout the city, or take part in a plethora of activities and fun games in the many carnivals and pop-up markets around Amsterdam and many other cities!

Congratulations, Graduants! After years of grueling work and many sleepless nights studying, you're finally graduated! Taking photos to immortalize one of your biggest achievements in life is a necessity, but sometimes you might feel that taking the same old poses at the same old locations might be boring. Worry not, for we have compiled five ideas for your graduation shoots this year!
You spent days, nights, months and years in this space studying and working, but (most-importantly) you made new friends in the campus that would last forever. What better way to make the memories last forever than to capture your graduation shots right there at the place where very corner holds a special memory of your journey together.
As much as you spent your days in the campus, there must be nights and days where you walk and explore the city where you study, especially if you're studying overseas or in a different city. Walk down memory lane through your favourite shopping streets or the city's famous restaurant alley and capture your graduation photos in those spots.
Especially for you who go to school in world-famous or historic cities, you might want to take your graduation shots at the city's famous landmark. A picture speaks a thousand words and nothing tells a better university-life story than a picture (or lots of it) in London's Tower Bridge and Big Ben, NYC's Brooklyn Bridge and Liberty Island, or Tokyo Tower. Trust us, the picture will turn into a treasure to show your children in the future!
Friends are always needed to help you go through the rougher times of your college life, and capturing your graduation together with great photos is always a great way to make your friendship more memorable. However, as much as you enjoyed your time with your squad, there are always times when you had to fight your way through classes and lectures on your own. Celebrating your success in going through that and coming out on top with a solo photoshoot is not a bad idea!
By the time we graduated, we must have realized that our journey through college would never be possible without the support and love of our loved ones, be it our parents back home, or our significant others that supported us day to day, near or far. Celebrate your graduation by taking great photos with these most important people in your lives!
Wherever and whomever you want to take your graduation photos with, let SweetEscape capture the moment for you! We capture any occasion, any time, anywhere by connecting you to a growing network of photographers in 500+ cities around the world, and your photos will be ready for download in 48 hours after the session via the SweetEscape app and our website.
